The Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our Cancer Charity page on the clubs website.

Both Richard & Christopher Barkers Dad Roy owned his Cortina from new since 1982. It was resting in his garage since the early 1990's!!! Together with Roys great friend Graham Ellis, they restored it between April 2014 to April 2016.

A project which began but shortly after Roy was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer. Sadly Roy never saw the car completed but his death sparked a further challenge in Richards mind. He planned a charity fundraising road trip for August 2016 once the car was complete in order to raise funds to benefit many people in the future and carried on his Dads wish to support Yorkshire Cancer Centres research to find a cure for this terrible disease. The planned 2500 mile round Europe trip to Cortina D'Ammprezzo in Italy was a personal tribute to their wonderful Dad. It was also an opportunity to remember Richards best friend Jonathan Parks who died in 2014 from bowel cancer and his Sister in Law Leanne Cain who passed away from a Brain Tumour in June 2015.

We are supporting Richard to get to his challenging £10,000 target, it's a very big challenge but nothing compared to what these three wonderfully brave people faced.....Lets try and fund the future research cure so that other people don't have to suffer the same fate. Please give generously.

This year the clubs Chosen Charity and for 2017 we have decided to help one of our clubs members charity of choice which is the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.

Richard Barker and his team have been working really hard to raise money for this fantastic cause and drove the Cortina to Cortina in Italy so far raising over £5000. An absolute credit to him so we have agreed to help him get to his target... as this is something as a club we all believe to be a very special cause.

Current funds raised online £4,850.00
+ £908.88 Gift Aid = £5758.88

Well over the halfway mark now.....still collecting. And now Yorkshire & Derbyshire Retro Ford Club team up with Richard Barker on a fundraising mission to help get Richard and his chosen Charity to £10,000.
